Not a good first impression...
While I understand the goal of firm receptions is generally to make a good impression on the 1Ls, holding a firm reception on Monday may do just the opposite for the firm that is holding it. Because through the whole reception, I am going to be wondering one thing:What sort of firm forces their attorneys to work a reception the night of the National Championship game?!

I don't know, but there's no way in hell I could work a reception on the day of the NBA championship game.
