Gone Batty

Between the law school e-mail, the career services e-mail, the SBA e-mail, the general UT e-mail, the parking e-mail, and the public safety e-mail, the University keeps a steady stream of useless crap coming through my inbox. But the "informational" email I got today really takes the cake. The winner of most pointless University correspondence of the year award goes to:

"If you or someone you know touched a bat near the south end of Bellmont (off of San Jacinto St., across from the Alumni Center) on Monday, April 23, 2007, Environmental Health & Safety needs to talk to you. Please call Environmental Health & Safety, 471-XXXX / 471-XXXX or call the City of Austin Health and Human Services Department, 972-XXXX, and report that you touched a bat. Thank You.

Carin [Lastname]
Safety Specialist | Environmental Health & Safety University of Texas at Austin"

Seriously?

That sounds really menacing. They just want to "talk" to you, friend. Don't be afraid of the men in the white coats, friend. We're here to help you, friend.

I would definitely not call the number.

This is old hat to anyone who went to undergrad here. We get bat emails at least once a year, maybe more.
